Introduction
Have you dreamed of a 5X ULTRAMARINE in the Caribbean? Mamaru Nui is now back in France, in Port Leucate, near the construction site! The postcard image is at your fingertips.
This listing is brought to you by Grand Large Services, the official and exclusive OVERSEAS broker. An asset that is not trivial: knowledge of each model and its history, total transparency on the condition of the boat, expert technical advice and support from A to Z, from first contact to delivery.
Created in 1984 by Gérard Danson, OUTREMER has established itself as one of the benchmarks for long-haul catamarans. A sailors' boat for sailors, the ULTRAMARINES stood out for their marine qualities and an exceptional compromise between comfort and performance.
When we talk about this compromise, one model stands out in particular: the 5X ULTRAMARINE! The flagship of the brand, this 59/61-foot catamaran with timeless lines has made sailing enthusiasts dream. Voted European Boat of the Year by the press in 2013, Roland Jourdain, a great sailor with an impressive record, even chose it as the basis for his We Explore project. In other words, this VPLP plan made an impression.
But 5X #14 has a story of its own. Mamaru Nui, out of the OVERSEAS workshops in 2016, was at the time of its construction the most expensive series catamaran ever produced by the yard. It was also exhibited new at the Cannes Boat Show. A status that can be read in every detail of the boat: original vinylester construction (a rare choice, reserved for a handful of exceptional units), tailor-made arrangements designed with its owners, and above all a philosophy of systematic redundancy of all vital equipment, an unusual requirement on a catamaran of this size.
This beautiful 5X V2 with inverted bows sailed to Polynesia, where its owners spent beautiful years. In 2021, damage to the rudders led to a waterway, leading to a very large refit between 2022 and 2023, the opportunity for a reconstruction in epoxy, a technique now widely used and recognized for its strength. This project was also an opportunity to completely renew motors, electrical and electronic systems.
Beautifully equipped with a carbon mast, carbon partitions at the mast and at the rear, Dyneema shrouds, 6 electric winches and 2 3-speed winches, as well as a beautiful Hydranet wardrobe at ELVSTROM. Solent self-steer, Genoese, Parasailor, Gennaker: nothing is missing for beautiful sailing.
For comfort, a Fischer Panda 1000iPMS generator set, 1580 W of solar panels, air conditioning, heating, bimini top with polished ceiling, a bespoke enlarged kitchen with Gaggenau oven and 4-fire induction hob, 2 freezers and 2 refrigerators, 8 kg washing machine (with drying function), dishwasher, 100 l/h desalinator.
Finally, the choice of electronics does without comments: B&G Zeus 3S 12 inches, B&G H5000 graphic display and anemometer, AIS Simrad V50 35, Lecomble & Schmitt and Raymarine autopilots, VHF B&G black box... And true to the spirit of the boat, the vital elements are redundant: 2 pilots, 2 anemometers, 2 compasses, 2 weather vanes, 2 converters, 2 anchors and 2 windrows, etc.
Small addition: Highfield semi-rigid annex CL380.
Beyond the boat, acquiring an ULTRAMARINE also means joining a real ecosystem: rallies organized around the world, training courses dedicated to ocean navigation, a close-knit and passionate community of owners. An accompaniment that goes well beyond the simple sale.
A sublime boat, undoubtedly the most successful and accomplished in terms of catamaran to date. Available in Port Leucate, a stone's throw from the construction site! Boat sold including tax.
