Introduction
ASAP – Overseas 51 (2021)
Choosing an Outremer is never just about acquiring a simple boat. It is a navigation project, often long-term, which deserves support to match. Going through the brokerage of the Overseas yard is part of a continuity: that of precise technical monitoring, a controlled history, and direct access to those who designed, built and accompanied these boats on all the seas of the globe. It is also the choice of a fair, demanding look, and deeply rooted in the real use of these units.
For more than thirty years, Outremer has established itself as a reference in the world of high-speed cruising catamarans. Designed for committed sailors, these boats focus on lightness, simplicity and reliability, with a single idea in mind: to allow you to sail far, fast, and long, safely. The 51, designed by the law firm Barreau / Neuman, is obviously in line with this. A true culmination of the range, it offers a rare balance between performance, comfort and ease of use, capable of swallowing miles consistently while remaining accessible with a reduced crew.
ASAP perfectly illustrates this philosophy. Launched in 2021, the 51 n.78 has had two owners, both deeply rooted in the Outremer universe. The first ensured the start-up and the first miles. The second, an experienced sailor and already owner of a 4X Outremer, engaged him in an Atlantic loop, confirming his potential and consistency in a demanding offshore program. Its story is that of a boat used as it should be: sailed, optimized, rigorously maintained, and always ready to sail again.
In its configuration, ASAP is immediately distinguished by a level of requirement rarely reached. The structure uses carbon elements – partitions, rotating mast, compression beam – associated with an optimized rigging with Kevlar stays, reflecting a constant search for performance and weight control. This healthy and successful base extends into a deck ergonomics designed for offshore navigation, with maneuvers facilitated in particular by three electric winches, allowing control and serenity to be maintained, even with a reduced crew.
The interior, faithful to the DNA of the 51, favours functionality and brightness, with facilities designed for life at sea: an additional berth in the starboard front cabin, a modular square and cockpit, capable of adapting to sailing times as well as moments of life on board. Thermal comfort is provided by a complete air conditioning and heating system, making the boat as pleasant in the tropics as in more engaged latitudes.
Autonomy, a central element of any Outremer project, is particularly well cared for here. The 1300 W of solar panels, combined with a 100 L/h desalinator, make it possible to envisage long voyages in complete independence. B&G electronics complete this set with reliable and high-performance instrumentation, for precise and safe navigation.
Finally, the sail plan, entrusted to Incidence, testifies to a desire to fully exploit the potential of the boat: Genoese, trinquette, Code 0, Code D, spinnaker... a complete, consistent, and performance-oriented game in all conditions. With less than 500 engine hours, ASAP is now in a particularly poor state of use with regard to its program.
Beyond the boat itself, acquiring ASAP means fully integrating the Outremer universe: benefiting from the support of the yard, its services, its technical expertise, but also joining a community of committed owners, sharing the same vision of sailing. It also opens the door to the events that punctuate this life of owner, including the Outremer rally, a real gateway to the big start.
ASAP is now available including tax, with a possible resumption of leasing, visible at the construction site. A completed boat, coherent, and ready to write a new story, in the purest Outremer tradition.
