Introduction

A catamaran designed to set sail

OUTREMER 55 – AKAROA III

2021 • VAT Free • €1,399,000 • Marseille / FRANCE

Offered through the Outremer brokerage team, AKAROA III benefits from the continuity, knowledge and long-term support of the yard that designed and built her. Buying an Outremer is not only about acquiring a boat; it is about joining a community and an ecosystem that accompanies owners from first project to departure, through training, rallies, technical assistance, refit and, eventually, resale. From our refit base at GLS Le Marin in Martinique to our teams on both sides of the Atlantic, this support is part of the experience.

The Outremer 55 represents the latest generation of the brand’s bluewater catamarans, designed in collaboration with VPLP architects. The brief was simple: create a true sailing boat first — light, efficient and safe offshore — while offering the comfort and autonomy required for long family voyages. The result is a performance cruising catamaran that covers miles effortlessly, remains reassuring in a seaway, and provides a comfortable platform for life on board.

Launched in 2021, hull 55N02 has already proven her capabilities. AKAROA III participated in the very first GLYWO rally, sailing among the Grand Large Yachting fleet and sharing the kind of passages and anchorages these boats are designed for. She has since benefited from careful ownership and a recent refit, and is now presented fully prepared for her next program, whether that means ocean crossings, extended sabbatical cruising or a new round-the-world project.

Her specification reflects an owner who intended to sail properly and independently. The carbon rotating mast — a rare and highly desirable option — works together with the carbon crossbeam to reduce weight and optimise performance and balance under sail. A full wardrobe of Hydranet sails (2 years old only) by Incidence provides efficient, reliable power across conditions, while five electric winches ensure sail handling remains simple and controlled, even with a short crew. At the helm, a complete B&G navigation suite offers clear, dependable information for passagemaking.

Autonomy on board has been equally prioritised. With 2050 watts of solar panels and a Fischer Panda 10000i generator, energy management is designed for long periods away from marinas. Air conditioning in the saloon and the owner cabin enhances comfort in the tropics, and the overall systems package has been selected to support real life on board rather than occasional use. She is, quite simply, a very comprehensively equipped Outremer 55 — ready to sail without the need for further upgrades.

The interior follows the familiar Outremer philosophy: practical, bright and well-ventilated spaces, with generous storage and durable finishes. It is a layout conceived for families and long stays aboard, where daily routines are easy and movement is natural, at sea or at anchor. The balance between performance and comfort makes the boat equally suited to fast passages and quiet evenings in sheltered bays.

Located today in Marseille, AKAROA III is ideally positioned for immediate departure and continued support. Offered VAT free, she presents a rare opportunity to acquire a recent, highly specified Outremer 55 for sale, already proven offshore and carefully prepared.

An Outremer is built to sail first. The rest follows naturally: the miles, the anchorages, the shared experiences. AKAROA III is ready to continue that story with new owners and new horizons.

Our commitment

So why should you choose Grand Large Yachting?

Buying or selling a used Outremer catamaran means continuing a story that began at the shipyard. That’s why Outremer Brokerage exists — the service dedicated to the resale of used Outremers, run by the very same teams who have followed our owners since their boat was built. We’re not just another intermediary: we are the shipyard’s official brokers.
This closeness changes everything. We know each boat, its history and its maintenance, often since the day it was delivered. This trusted relationship, built over time with our owners, is our greatest strength — and it benefits sellers and buyers alike.
We believe that a well-sold boat is a well-described boat. Every catamaran offered for sale undergoes a rigorous technical inspection, carried out by teams who know the Outremer inside out — structure, rigging, systems. Buyers and sellers thus have access to reliable, honest information, the foundation of a smooth transaction.
Our team combines in-depth hands-on experience with sharp knowledge of the pre-owned Outremer market, staying in constant contact with the naval architects, production, and after-sales service at the shipyard. No one else has this expertise.
Buying or selling a catamaran is about far more than an online listing. We handle the entire journey — valuation, technical survey, marketing, viewings, negotiation — followed by the full administrative and legal process: sales agreement, VAT, financing. One single point of contact, from the first day to the last.
Every Outremer carries an adventure within it. Our mission is to pass it on to the next owner, so the story goes on — and so the brand keeps moving forward too.
Buying an Outremer is often the project of a lifetime. Our role is to support you with rigor, transparency and passion at every step — from the first viewing to the handover.
